NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Men’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, recognizing standout performances by Tyler Leslie of Augustana and Taydin Murphy of Carthage following strong showings in weekend competition.
Swimming: Tyler Leslie, Augustana
Tyler Leslie produced a standout performance at the Grinnell Invitational last weekend, leading the Vikings to a second-place team finish in the nine-team field while recording three individual victories.
Leslie posted first-place finishes in the 200 individual medley (1:52.83), 200 freestyle (1:40.83) and 200 backstroke (1:53.85). He was also part of the Vikings’ 800 freestyle relay that claimed first place in 7:01.70, breaking the meet record by two seconds. Leslie added a second-place relay finish in the 400 freestyle relay to close the invitational.
Diving: Taydin Murphy, Carthage
Murphy was honored following his performance in a dual meet against Illinois Tech last Saturday. A sophomore from Minooka, Ill., Murphy swept both diving events to lead the Firebirds. He is a five-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week this season.
Murphy recorded season-best scores on both boards, finishing with 252.20 on the 1-meter and 274.20 on the 3-meter.
