NAPERVILLE — Elmhurst junior guard Kristin Bukata has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Bukata posted averages of 26.5 points, 10.5 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game in two CCIW contests. The junior currently leads NCAA Division III in both total assists (133) and assists per game (8.3).
Bukata’s week was highlighted in a 95-67 victory over North Park on Saturday when she tied the Elmhurst single-game record with 12 assists without committing a turnover in 31 minutes of action. She added 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting (64.7 percent) and five rebounds, guiding an offense that scored 74 points in the paint.
Earlier in the week, the Valparaiso, Ind. native played all 40 minutes in a 73-70 loss to Carthage last Wednesday. She recorded a game-high 27 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, while adding three steals and one block.
