NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week is Illinois Wesleyan’s Sawyer White, according to a Monday announcement.
White averaged 19.7 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 steals, and 1.7 rebounds per game while helping the 13th-ranked Titans win two of three contests since Dec. 20. IWU collected top-20 victories over No. 19 Bethel (78-76) and No. 14 Carroll (85-52) during the week.
The senior guard etched her name into the IWU record book defensively, becoming the program’s all-time steals leader. White tied the previous mark with a 15-point, six-assist outing against Bethel before claiming the record outright the following day versus Wisconsin Lutheran. By week’s end, she had pushed her career total to 305 steals, placing her second among active NCAA Division III players and making her one of just eight current student-athletes across all NCAA divisions with more than 300 career steals.
White’s week was punctuated by a career-high 37-point performance in a CCIW matchup against Carroll on Saturday. She shot 13-of-19 from the field and knocked down eight three-pointers, the most by a Titan since 2008, while adding eight steals, four assists and three rebounds.
Over the three-game stretch, White shot 51 percent from the field, 53 percent from beyond the arc, and finished a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line.
