The CCIW Women’s Soccer Notebook: A Fight to the Finish

Four spots have been clinched while two spots are still up for grabs as the regular season wraps up this week.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Four matches on both Saturday and Wednesday will bring the 2026 regular season to a close for College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women’s soccer. Four spots have been clinched, but no teams are yet mathematically eliminated, setting up a wild two days of action yet to come.

North Central College is sitting in the pole position entering the final week. Though the Cardinals have a bye on Saturday, they can wrap up the No. 1 seed on Wednesday with a win or a draw when they visit Augustana College. Illinois Wesleyan University, Elmhurst College, and Wheaton College have all clinched spots in the CCIW Tournament, but there could be plenty of movement in their order of finish and all three would be eager to earn the No. 2 seed and a bye to the semifinal round.

Among the group of five who haven’t locked up a spot in the CCIW tournament, Carroll University leads the pack with eight points to sit in fifth place in the standings. Millikin University holds the final spot as of this writing, sitting in sixth place on six points. North Park University (four points), Carthage College (three points) and Augustana (one point) all could still make a late charge and unseat one of those teams who currently occupy a tournament spot.

Regional Rankings/Statistical Leaders
Maintaining its unbeaten record on the season, North Central remains in fourth place in the Region VIII rankings according to United Soccer Coaches. Illinois Wesleyan falls to seventh in the regional rankings this week after slip-ups against No. 1 WashU and Carroll took the Titans from among the ranks of the unbeaten.

Looking specifically at CCIW-only statistics this week, North Central goes into the final week of play as the conference's top-scoring team with 20 goals in seven matches thus far (an average of 2.86 goals per game). Elmhurst holds the distinction of having the top defense in the CCIW, having allowed only five goals through six matches (0.83 goals allowed).

On an individual level, Izzy Jones of Millikin has run away with CCIW's goal-scoring crown. Jones has bagged 16 total on the season, with seven of those coming in conference play. North Central's Reese Anderson has quickly caught up to Jones, however, sitting just a goal back with six after a hat trick last week against North Park. Madison DeVriendt of North Central now leads the CCIW in assists in league play with four.

Wheaton's Lydia Martin leads the conference in three goalkeeping categories: goals-against average, save percentage, and shutouts. The Thunder junior has allowed just 0.83 goals per match, notched a .818 save percentage that is just a hair above Millikin's Jessica Bearley (.813) and has three shutouts to her credit in CCIW play.
