Oliver Guides Wheaton to 2-0 Week, Earns CCIW Women's Hoops Honor

NAPERVILLE — Wheaton senior guard Kate Oliver has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday.

A native of Falls Church, Va., Oliver helped Wheaton post a 2-0 week in CCIW play while averaging 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

Wheaton opened the week with an 82-72 overtime win against Augustana last Wednesday. Oliver led all scorers with a season-high 24 points and added nine rebounds, two steals and one block. She also produced a career-high eight assists. On the final possession of regulation, Oliver made two free throws to tie the game and send it to overtime, where she added six points and two assists as the Thunder pulled away.

In a 52-39 road victory at North Park on Saturday, Oliver finished with nine points on 3-of-5 shooting while contributing four rebounds and two steals. She matched the game-high totals in assists (4) and blocks (3).

Oliver’s week helped Wheaton improve to 10-13 overall and 6-8 in conference play. The Thunder have won three straight games and moved into sole possession of sixth place in the CCIW standings.
