NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) named Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Pablo Castro its Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday following his performance at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate Invitational, held March 20-22. The announcement marks his second weekly honor from the league this season.
A native of Palatine, Ill., Castro tied for third place individually in a field that included many of Division III’s top teams and players. He finished the 54-hole event at 12-under par with a career-best total of 204, which ranks as the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history at IWU.
Castro posted rounds of 67, 69 and 68, giving him three consecutive rounds in the 60s. The finish marked his fourth top-10 result of the season and the fifth top-five finish of his career. His performance helped the Titans place in a tie for seventh at one of the division’s most competitive events.
