NAPERVILLE — Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Pablo Castro was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. Castro received the honor for the second consecutive week and for the third time during the 2025-26 season.
Castro earned the award after tying for medalist honors at the IWU Invite, held last weekend. Competing in a 255-player field, he claimed the first tournament victory of his collegiate career.
The Palatine, Ill. native opened the event with a four-under-par 68 at Ironwood Golf Course. His round included a four-under 32 on the back nine. He followed with a one-over-par 72 at Weibring Golf Club in difficult weather conditions that included rain, wind and cold temperatures.
Castro finished the two-day event at three-under-par 140, helping Illinois Wesleyan secure its second team title of the season. The Titans won the tournament by 14 strokes over runner-up Nebraska Wesleyan.
