NAPERVILLE — North Central junior Henry Ros was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after contributing to two team victories over the weekend.
Ros, a junior from West Chicago, Ill., posted a 4-0 record across singles and doubles play as North Central defeated the UC Santa Cruz and Millikin. Ros competed at No. 1 doubles with Andres Valverde Gonzalez and recorded a 6-2 win against UC Santa Cruz on Saturday before adding a 6-4 victory over Millikin on Sunday.
At No. 2 singles, Ros earned a 6-0, 6-2 win against UC Santa Cruz and followed with a 6-1, 6-3 result against Millikin. Across the two singles matches, he lost six total games. The two victories extended his singles winning streak to four matches.
North Central improved to 9-6 overall with the two wins and extended its team winning streak to five matches. The Cardinals also moved to 2-0 in conference play and are alone atop the CCIW standings.
