Six Teams Set for 2026 CCIW Women’s Tennis Championship

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The 2026 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Tennis Championship will begin Thursday at Evergreen Racquet Club. Hosted by North Park, the three-day tournament will determine the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship.
 
Quarterfinal play will begin Thursday with No. 4 Augustana facing No. 5 Carroll at 10 a.m. and No. 3 Carthage meeting No. 6 North Park at 2 p.m. 
 
The semifinals are scheduled for Friday with the winner of the Augustana-Carroll match taking on No. 1 North Central at 10 a.m. and the winner of the Carthage-North Park match facing No. 2 Wheaton at 2 p.m. The championship match is set for Saturday at 12 p.m.
 
North Central enters the event as the No. 1 seed after finishing the fall conference dual schedule with an 8-0 record and a 13-8 overall mark. The Cardinals have won or shared the CCIW dual title in each of the last four seasons and will seek a fifth straight conference tournament championship this weekend. Senior Abigail Penados, the three-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year, leads North Central after posting an unbeaten record at No. 1 singles in league play. She is joined by fellow All-CCIW First Team selection Kensington Payne.
 
Wheaton secured the No. 2 seed with a 14-5 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference play, with its only league loss coming in a 4-3 decision against North Central on October 1. The Thunder are led by All-CCIW First Team senior Madeline Gentry and Second Team selection Tatum Thurstone.
 
Carthage will enter the championship as the No. 3 seed following a 9-9 overall record and a 5-3 conference mark. The Firebirds are led by reigning CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year Rya Arreazola and will open tournament play against host North Park, the No. 6 seed. North Park finished the regular season 7-11 overall and 3-5 in conference play and is led by All-CCIW First Team selection Alexandra Pugachova.
 
Augustana and Carroll round out the field as the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds, respectively. Augustana posted an 8-9 overall record and matched Carthage at 5-3 in conference play. The Vikings are led by Second Team All-CCIW honorees Hannah Colbert and Maripaz Ramirez. Carroll finished 9-9 overall and 4-4 in conference action and is paced by First Team All-CCIW selection Natasa Pupovac.
