Decatur, IL - Millikin University Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Johnathan Jordan as its next Head Swimming and Diving Coach, as announced by Vice President for Athletics and Community Engagement Lori Kerans '85.

"Coach Jordan brings a wealth of experience as a coach, recruiter, educator and athletics administrator, but what impressed us most was his commitment to developing student-athletes and building strong, connected programs. We appreciate the student-athletes, coaches and alumni who have invested so much in Millikin Swimming and Diving over the years, and we believe Johnathan is the right leader to honor that foundation while bringing new energy, stability and vision to the program.  There is a great deal of opportunity in front of this program, and I could not be more excited about Coach Jordan's leadership and what we can build together at Millikin."

Prior to Millikin, Jordan served as the Head Swimming Coach at Division I Eastern Illinois University for two seasons. While at Eastern, his swimmers set 12 school records and collected 22 top ten EIU performances. He coached one Summit League All-Academic selection in 2022, and the men's team won the CSCAA Scholar All-America Top 10 award during the 2022-23 academic year.

There's tremendous potential here, and I'm ready to get to work, recruit great student-athletes, create a strong team culture, and develope a program that competes with pride and represents Millikin at the highest level."

An accomplished coach at all levels, Jordan has coached athletes as high as the Olympic level. After working on the Fiji Swimming Federation Coaching staff for one year, he became a member of the national team staff for the Marshall Islands Swimming Federation. He has coached the Marshall Islands at World Championships, Pacific Games, Oceania Games, and the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. He has also served as a member of the Oceania National Olympic Committee.

Before moving to Eastern Illinois, Jordan served for seven seasons as the head coach at Lincoln College. While there, he helped the Lynx through their transition from a two-year program to an NAIA member. He came to Lincoln after a six season stint at Iowa Lakes Community College. While there, he helped the men's program jump from a Swimcloud.com power rating of 9th best in the NJCAA to 2nd best, also helping the women's program achieve a similar jump in that time period. He was named NJCAA Women's Coach of the Year for his efforts during this time. Before taking his first head coaching job, Jordan was an assistant for two years at the University of South Dakota, where he helped the program to make a transition into the Summit League.

Jordan competed collegiately at Division III Albion College, where he earned his Bachelor's of Science in Political Science and Philosophy in 2008. He went on to earn his Master's of Science in Sport Management from the University of South Dakota in 2010.
