WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University sophomore defensive lineman August Johansen has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week following his outstanding performance in the Pioneers' 20-0 victory over Carthage in the 49th Battle for the Old Musket.

Johansen becomes Carroll's first D3football.com Team of the Week selection of the 2026 season and adds another honor to a week that already included CCIW Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

The Manchester, Missouri native was a disruptive force all afternoon against the Firebirds, totaling six tackles, including four tackles for loss for 21 yards and three sacks for 19 yards. He also added four quarterback hurries as Carroll's defense consistently pressured the Carthage offense.

Johansen's three sacks helped the Pioneers tie the program's single-game record with eight sacks. Carroll's defense held Carthage to just 145 yards of total offense while forcing four turnovers in the shutout victory.

The performance was part of a historic defensive effort for the Pioneers. Carroll has now recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time since the 2000 season while improving to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in CCIW play. The victory also returned the Old Musket to Waukesha for the first time since 2023.

D3football.com's Team of the Week recognizes the top performances from across Division III football each week, placing Johansen among the nation's top players from Week 4.

Johansen and the Pioneers will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Millikin for a 1 p.m. conference matchup.
