NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Sheila Walsh and Chelsea Armstrong, and Augustana’s Greg Patton and Nick Sinon were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.
Walsh, a senior from Wheaton, Ill., and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School, won the 400-meter dash at the Cardinal Classic last week, finishing with an NCAA Division III provisional time of 56.86, which was also a school record and second on the NCAA honor roll. Walsh also competed in the provisional qualifying 4x400 relay team. Their time of 3:55.51 placed fifth on the NCAA honor roll. Walsh is an English major.
Armstrong, a junior from Litchfield, Ill., and Litchfield High School, won the weight throw at the Cardinal Classic with a throw of 49-5 (15.06), which is a personal best and ranks third on the CCIW honor roll. She also placed second in the shot put with a season-best throw of 36-3 (11.05 meters). Armstrong is a Biology/Environmental Science major.
Patton, a sophomore from Bloomington, Ill., and Bloomington High School, broke the facility and meet record in the 400-meter dash at the Dubuque Open on Saturday, finishing with a time of 49.97. He then anchored the 4x400 relay team to a meet record time of 3:22.24. Patton is a Geography & Political Science major.
Sinon, a freshman from Elburn, Ill., and Kaneland High School, broke the facility and meet record in the high jump at the Dubuque Open on Saturday, finishing with an NCAA qualifying jump of 6-8 (2.03 meters). Sinon is a Computer Science major.
