NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Sam Sweeney captured his second-straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honor Wednesday.

Sweeney, a senior from Crystal Lake, Ill., and Prairie Ridge High School (Biology major), finished 3-1 last week, going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-1 at No. 2 doubles. He defeated Chicago’s Will Zhang (6-2, 6-3) and Carthage’s Jeff Lotz (6-4, 6-2). He then teamed with Matt Boguslawski (Bloomingdale, Ill./Glenbard North) for an 8-3 win over Carthage’s Matt Whiteside and Nick Boomgarden, but lost (8-5) to Chicago’s Alex Golovin and Jan Stefanski.
