NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Dan Benton and Carthage’s Greg Raimondi were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.
Benton, a senior from Westmont, Ill., and Westmont High School (Psychology major), finished first in the 400-meter run at the Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Squig Converse Invitational over the weekend. His time of 48.95 places him second on the current NCAA Division III National List.
Raimondi, a senior from Harwood Heights, Ill., and Norridge-Ridgewood High School (Exercise & Sport Science Major), threw a lifetime best of 17.81 meters in the 35-pound weight throw during Illinois Wesleyan’s Bob Keck Invitational over the weekend. Before the finals started he was hit in the head by a weight requiring 12 stitches but returned in time to throw a lifetime best of 15.65 meters in the shot put. His marks put him 16th and 21st nationally. He finished third in the finals of both events.
