Austin, Geraghty named CCIW Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s Jake Austin and North Central’s Peter Geraghty were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.

Austin, a junior from Yorkville, Ill., and Yorkville High School (Business major), clocked a time of 9:13.95 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2012 Hillsdale College “GINA” Relays on Friday, April 27. This time currently ranks 12th in the nation and first in the CCIW.

Geraghty, a junior from Oak Park, Ill., and Oak Park-River Forest (Physical Education major), won the pole vault with a height of 17-0 ¾ at the Benedictine Twilight over the weekend. This ranks him second in both the CCIW and in the nation. It was Geraghty’s second meet of the season after missing the entire 2012 indoor campaign with an injury.
