KENOSHA, Wis. — Saturday’s final session at Art Keller Field ended with North Central back at the top of the league’s men’s outdoor track & field standings, as the Cardinals scored 229.5 points to win the 2026 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
North Central entered the final day trailing Augustana and Carthage, but used points across both track and field events to move into first place and secure its eighth consecutive CCIW outdoor title. The championship was the Cardinals’ 42nd overall in program history.
Augustana finished second with 138.5 points, while host Carthage placed third with 136.5 points. Illinois Wesleyan was fourth with 107.5 points, followed by Wheaton with 65.
The Cardinals’ Saturday effort included a first-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay. The team of Muscho Lewis, Zach Anderson, Randall Reed and Alexander Knight won the event in a season-best time of 41.36 seconds.
North Central also received individual event wins from Owen Dare, Randall Reed, Daniel Kasperan and Jayden Leise. Dare won the 1,500-meter run in 3:59.15, Reed placed first in the 200-meter dash in 21.54 seconds, and Kasperan won the 5,000-meter run in 14:54.29. Leise defended his conference title in the triple jump with a mark of 14.32 meters.
Additional Saturday track winners included Augustana’s Tyreke Fortney, who won the 100-meter dash in 10.64 seconds, and Carthage’s Dylan Parker, who placed first in the 400-meter dash in 47.66 seconds. Illinois Wesleyan’s Jacob Pinkston won the 800-meter run in 1:53.62, and the Titans closed the track events with a win in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:19.32.
In Saturday’s field events, Carthage’s Jack Tilton won the high jump by clearing 2.06 meters.
Augustana’s AJ Banks was named the CCIW Track Student-Athlete of the Meet. Banks won both hurdle events on Saturday, taking first in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.39 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 54.10 seconds. His time in the 110-meter hurdles broke his own previous CCIW meet record of 14.41.
Carthage’s Tyler Rose was selected as the CCIW Field Student-Athlete of the Meet. Rose won the discus with a mark of 59.44 meters, breaking the previous CCIW meet record of 58.60 meters set in 2022. He also won the shot put on Saturday with a mark of 17.34 meters.
North Central’s Travis Hoffman was named the CCIW First-Year Track Student-Athlete of the Meet. Hoffman placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.67 seconds and added a sixth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.47 seconds.
The Augustana coaching staff, led by head coach Chad Gunnelson, was named the CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year after the Vikings finished second in the team standings.
