CCIW Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Qualifiers Set for NCAA Championships

NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) will be represented by a group of men’s national qualifiers at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at Veterans Memorial Field in La Crosse, Wis.
 
The CCIW field includes entries in sprints, distance events, vertical jumps and multiple throwing events. The conference enters the national meet with two of the top-ranked throwers in Division III, including the No. 1 seed in the discus and the No. 2 seed in the hammer.
 
Competition begins Thursday morning with the decathlon at 10 a.m. Men’s field events are scheduled to begin later in the day with finals in the discus and long jump. Friday’s schedule includes the high jump final at 11 a.m. and the shot put final at 3 p.m., along with running preliminaries in the 400-meter dash and 100-meter dash during the afternoon session.
 
The championship will conclude Saturday with the remaining field-event finals, including the javelin, triple jump, pole vault and hammer. Track finals will continue through the afternoon, with the 400-meter dash scheduled for 2:20 p.m. and the 5,000-meter run set for 4:25 p.m.
 
Carthage’s Tyler Rose will enter the meet as the top seed in the discus after qualifying with a mark of 59.44 meters. Rose will also compete in the shot put, where he is seeded 15th at 17.34 meters.
 
Augustana’s Landon Wierenga also enters the championship near the top of the national field. Wierenga is seeded second in the hammer with a qualifying mark of 62.93 meters and will also compete in the discus as the No. 15 seed at 52.02 meters. North Central’s Ben Balboa gives the CCIW another high-seeded entry in the discus, entering fourth with a mark of 54.09 meters.
 
On the track, Illinois Wesleyan’s Evan Lowder is seeded sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.99 seconds. Carthage’s Dylan Parker also qualified in the event and enters as the No. 13 seed at 47.13 seconds.
 
North Central’s BJ Sorg will represent the conference in the 10,000-meter run after qualifying sixth with a time of 29:23.88. Carthage’s Jacob Curulewski is also entered in the 10,000 and is seeded 13th at 29:43.54. Curulewski will also compete in the 5,000-meter run as the No. 22 seed with a qualifying time of 14:13.57.
 
Carthage’s Jack Tilton rounds out the conference’s men’s qualifiers in the high jump. Tilton enters the national meet as the No. 22 seed after clearing 2.06 meters.
