NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Richie Ruske and
Luke Winder were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Ruske, a senior from Plainfield, Illinois and Plainfield South High School (Physics major), established a new North Central varsity record in the 1,000-meter run at the Grand Valley State Mike Lints Alumni Open on Friday, finishing second in a time of 2:29.81. Ruske broke the previous record of 2:31.92 set by Ed Reigert in 2000.
Winder, a freshman from Joliet, Illinois and Plainfield Central High School (Physical Education major), also established a new school record at Grand Valley State on Friday. He broke the North Central freshman pole vault record with a second place height of 16-8 ¾. His height currently ranks first on the Division III Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS). Additionally, Winder earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week honors for his performance on Friday.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL).
