North Central relay, Wheaton's Cole named CCIW Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s 4x400-meter relay team, along with Wheaton’s Brendan Cole were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

The Cardinals’ relay team of Daniel Spaccapaniccia (Bolingbrook, Ill./Naperville Central), Derek Nelson (Davis, Calif./H.S./Sport Management), Mustapha Olaoye (South Holland, Ill./Thornwood/Exercise Science) and Zach Kirby (St. Charles, Ill./North/Finance) finished second in the 4x400 at UW-Whitewater’s “Squig” Converse Invitational on Friday. Their time of 3:20.24 currently ranks first in the CCIW and third on the NCAA Division III Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) national list.

Cole, a junior from Apple Valley, Minnesota and Eastview High School (Psychology major), won two events at Carthage’s Tadd Metzger Invitational on Saturday. He placed first in the pole vault with a height of 14-7 ¼ (4.45 meters), which currently ranks first in the CCIW. He also finished first in the long jump with a distance of 23-0 ¾ (7.03 meters), which is currently eighth nationally and first in the CCIW.
