NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Carthage College and the N.E. Tarble Athletic & Recreation Center will host the 2018 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships February 23-24.
On Friday, running events begin at 11 a.m. with the men’s heptathlon 55-meter dash, followed by the women’s pentathlon 55-meter hurdles at 11:15 a.m. Running events will continue at 3:40 p.m. with the first heat of the women’s 5,000-meter run, while field events begin at 1 p.m. with the men’s long jump, followed by the women’s pole vault at 1:30 p.m.
On Saturday, running events begin at 10:45 a.m. with the preliminaries of the men’s & women’s 55-meter hurdles, while field events begin at Noon with the women’s high jump, men’s triple jump and men’s shot put.
Defending national champion North Central won its 16th CCIW men’s indoor title last season, which was the program’s sixth conference title under head coach Frank Gramarosso. For the fifth-straight week, the Cardinals were the No. 1-ranked team in the nation according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Rankings on February 21.
Wheaton enters the weekend as the defending CCIW women’s champion. The Thunder won their first-ever CCIW indoor title last season under the direction of 17-year coach Scott Bradley.
The Carthage women were ranked 24th in the USTFCCCA National Team Rankings on February 21.
Combined, the CCIW has won six NCAA Division III indoor titles including five from the North Central men (1989, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2017) and one from the Illinois Wesleyan women (2008).
The 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place March 9-10 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2016-17 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,900 academic all-conference recipients, 10 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 33 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, one CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year and over 100 all-Americans.
