North Park's Johnson named CCIW Women's Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Park freshman forward Jayla Johnson was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

A native of Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton Warrenville South High School (Nursing major), Johnson helped lead the Vikings to a pair of wins last week, which secured their first appearance in the CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament for the first time since 2006. She finished with 16 points and six rebounds in a 62-58 win over Elmhurst on Wednesday, and added a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds, along with three assists and five steals in a 77-66 win at Millikin on Saturday. She finished the regular season with nine-straight games in which she scored in double figures.

During the 2017-18 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,100 academic all-conference recipients, 15 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 28 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
