Wheaton's Ezewuzie, North Central's McLaurin named CCIW Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Wheaton's Favor Ezewuzie and North Central's Kelsey McLaurin were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Ezewuzie, a junior from Malden, Massachusetts and Covenant Christian Academy (Elementary Education major), won her second CCIW Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor this season after she captured four individual events at the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday. She set a new school record in winning the 200-meter dash (24.94) and also won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.13. Ezewuzie also claimed first place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (14.58) and the long jump (5.66 meters/18-7) and helped the Thunder 4x100 relay squad to a first place finish with a time of 48.12. She is currently ranked third in the 100 and fifth in the 200 dash, 100 hurdles and long jump on the NCAA Division III national list compiled by TFRRS.org. 

McLaurin, a sophomore from South Barrington, Illinois and Barrington High School (Sociology major), won the triple jump at the Wheaton Invitational and set a new school record in the process. Her mark of 11.68 meters (38-4) is currently ranked sixth on the Division III national list. McLaurin was also part of the second place 4x100 (48.89) and winning 4x400 (3:56.74) relay squads.
