North Central's Stanley, North Park's Barrio named CCIW Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Michael Stanley and North Park's Jose Barrio were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Stanley, a junior sprinter from Geneva, Illinois and Batavia High School, placed second in the 400-meter dash behind the 2019 indoor national champion at the North Central Invitational on Friday. His time of 49.16 is currently first in the CCIW and third on the NCAA Division III national list.

Barrio, a senior from Santander, Spain and Rockford Christian High School, finished second in the heptathlon during the Windy City Rumble at the University of Chicago over the weekend. He finished with a score of 4,498, which is ranked second all-time at North Park and is currently first in the CCIW and 19th on the NCAA Division III national list. Barrio had two personal records in the pole vault and one in the shot put.

During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
