NAPERVILLE, Ill. --
Lauren Shanks of Illinois Wesleyan and
Mady Schmidt of North Central were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Shanks, a junior Political Science major from Bloomington, Illinois, led a potent offensive attack for Illinois Wesleyan as the Titans went 2-0 last week and secured a share of the CCIW title. Shanks tallied seven points with two goals and three assists. She played a role in the first four goals of the match in the Titans' 8-0 victory over Carthage on Saturday, scoring two and assisting on two. She added another assist in their 3-1 victory over Millikin.
Schmidt, a senior Elementary Education major from Springfield, Illinois, chipped in on both ends of the field to lead the Cardinals to a 2-0 record last week. She scored the game-winning goal in North Central's 4-1 victory over Carroll on Saturday. She helped anchor the defense that allowed just one goal in each match as the Cardinals also defeated Wheaton 2-1 on Wednesday.
