CCIW Legacy Series: Lance Brooks - Millikin University

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- As the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) continues its 75th anniversary celebration, the conference honors the past student-athletes, coaches and administrators who helped shaped the CCIW during its seven-plus decades of competition.

Each week during the 2020-21 season, CCIW.org will spotlight student-athletes through its Conference Legacy Series. 

Today, we highlight the career of former Millikin University student-athlete Lance Brooks.

Class - 2006
  • Discus champion at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials
  • Member of the U.S. Olympic Team at the 2012 Games in London
  • Finished fourth in the discus at the 2009 U.S. Outdoor Championships
  • Placed third at the 2011 National Outdoor Championships
  • NCAA Division III All-American in the discus with a fourth place finish (2006)
  • Still holds the Big Blue's discus record of 189-9 (57.85 meters) set on May 11, 2006
  • Also holds the CCIW meet record in the discus with a distance of 179-10 (54.81 meters) (2006)
  • Two-time CCIW champion in the discus (2005, 2006)
  • Four-time All-CCIW recipient in the discus (2003-2006)
  • Inducted into the Millikin Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL).
