CCIW announces this year's All-Conference Women's Tennis Team

All-Conference Women's Tennis Team

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced today the 12 members of the CCIW Women's Tennis Team.

North Central junior transfer Kaeli Smashey earned a pair of awards on Tuesday including the CCIW Player of the Year and the CCIW Newcomer of the Year. She became the first women's tennis player in conference history to win both awards and the first Cardinal to be named Player of the Year. Smashey finished a perfect 8-0 in conference play at No. 1 singles.

North Central's Ryan Jump became the first Cardinal coach to win CCIW Coach of the Year honors after leading his team to its first-ever undefeated regular season conference record.

The Cardinals led the way with two First Team members and one Second Team member, while Augustana and Wheaton each had three members represented. Carroll, Millikin and Carthage each had one member on the all-conference team.

CCIW teams move onto the quarterfinal round of the CCIW Women's Tennis Championship on this afternoon. The four winning teams from today move onto the semifinal round on Friday, followed by the championship on Saturday. Be sure to visit the championship website for a full schedule of events.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL).
