NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central freshman Ramon Vilarroig Martinez was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday.

A native of Castellon, Spain, Vilarroig Martinez went 6-0 in the Cardinals' three CCIW wins. He teamed with Javier Suarez at No. 2 doubles to go 3-0 with wins over Elmhurst's Brandon Fulmer and Florin Stan (8-1), Carthage's Cooper Ferruzzi and Kevin Dunn (8-3), and Carroll's Luke Barter and Ryan Strupp (8-0). Vilarroig Martinez won all three of his singles matches. He defeated Elmhurst's Ben Cavka (6-1, 6-0) at No. 3, followed by a pair of No. 2 singles wins over Carthage's Nicolas Welker (6-1, 6-4) and Carroll's Brian Trefliek (6-0, 6-1).
