North Central's Babinec, Carroll's Pankratz named CCIW Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Julia Babinec and Carroll's Jamie Pankratz were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Babinec, a senior from Zeeland, Michigan and Zeeland High School, ran a personal best time of 8.14 in the prelims of the 60-meter dash on Saturday at North Central's Cardinal Opener. She placed third in the finals with a time of 8.16 and second in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.91. Babinec also finished with times of 8.78, 8.85 and 8.87 in three 60-meter hurdles races at Indiana Tech. She is currently tied for first in the 60-meter hurdles on the NCAA Division III national list.

Pankratz, a senior from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Winnebago Lutheran High School, won the weight throw at Carthage's Firebird Opener on Saturday. Her mark of 16.72 meters was a new personal best, topping her previous best of 16.43 meters. Pankratz is currently ranked first in the conference and fifth nationally.
