NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week during the 2022-23 season is Yele Aycock of top-ranked North Central, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Aycock won five times en route to an individual title at the Pointer Open on Saturday.
Aycock, who earned the league honor thanks to a vote from league head coaches, was the winner of the 136-pound bracket in Stevens Point, Wis. After earning a bye to the Round of 16, the sophomore from Gallup, N.M. started the day with a 76-second victory via fall. She won her quarterfinal bout in a 15-2 technical fall and later earned a 2-1 decision to advance to the final.
In the final, Aycock won by fall over Northern Michigan’s Diana Dzasezeva in 4:36.
