NAPERVILLE – North Central’s Amani Jones is the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Jones is the third Cardinal to earn weekly honors from the league this season.
Jones, sophomore from Locust Grove, Ga., played a pivotal role in the top-ranked Cardinals’ 34-9 win over #5 Augsburg on Saturday in La Crosse, Wis. She pinned three-time All-American Gabby Skidmore, the seventh-ranked wrestler at 123 pounds, in 4:04 to give NCC a 20-0 lead in the dual.
The win improved North Central to 10-0 this season. Jones joins teammates Yele Aycock and Sydney Petzinger as North Central’s CCIW Women’s Wrestling Student-Athletes of the Week in 2022-23.
