Michael Gille and Carthage's
Joseph White were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Gille, a senior from Roscoe, Illinois, ran a lifetime best in the 5,000-meter run at South Dakota State over the weekend. His time of 14:38.96 is currently first in the CCIW and 34th on the NCAA Division III national list. This time also ranks third in program history for the indoor 5,000.
White, a sophomore from Kenosha, Wisconsin and Indian Trail High School, won his third CCIW Field Athlete of the Week honor after he won the weight throw and shot put at UW-Whitewater's Elite Invitational on Saturday. He contributed 20 of Carthage's 37-point total. His mark of 19.43 meters in the weight throw set a new Carthage record and is currently ranked second in NCAA Division III. It also leads the CCIW by a full meter. White's winning mark in the shot put was 16.45 meters.
