NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central was predicted to win its eighth College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) women's indoor track & field title based upon the results of the conference's annual preseason coaches' poll announced Thursday.
The poll predicted how each team would finish when the conference's nine programs compete at the
2022 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships held February 25-26.
The Cardinals won the poll with 64 points and eight first place votes. North Central heads into this year's championship as a seven-time champion including conference titles in 2006, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2019 and 2020, all under the direction of head coach Kari Kluckhohn.
Elmhurst placed second in the poll with 53 points and one first place vote, followed by six-time champion Illinois Wesleyan in third with 46 points. Carroll placed fourth in the voting with 45 points.
Wheaton finished fifth with 36 points, while Millikin was sixth with 34 points and host Carthage was seventh with 17 points.
Augustana (17 points) and North Park (eight points) rounded out the poll.
Voting for the CCIW Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Poll is done by the head women's track & field coaches. Each coach votes for the eight other programs in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (eight points for first, seven for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their own teams.
