NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central was predicted to win its 20th College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) men's indoor track & field title based upon the results of the conference's annual preseason coaches' poll announced Thursday.
The poll predicted how each team would finish when the conference's nine programs compete at the
2022 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships held February 25-26.
The Cardinals won the poll with 64 points and eight first place votes and looks to win its fifth-straight title dating back to 2017.
Augustana placed second in the poll with 55 points and one first place vote. The Vikings last won the CCIW indoor title in 2016, ending a 15-year run by North Central from 2001 to 2015.
Carthage was third with 47 points and will serve as host of this year's championship. Wheaton finished fourth in the voting with 44 points, followed by Millikin in fifth with 36 points as the Big Blue finished second at the 2020 Indoor Championship.
Carroll placed sixth with 31 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan in seventh with 19 points. Elmhurst (15 points) and North Park (13 points) rounded out the poll.
Voting for the CCIW Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship Poll is done by the head men's track & field coaches. Each coach votes for the eight other programs in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (eight points for first, seven for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their own teams.
