NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's
Lindsey Novak and
Alexandra Draves were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Novak, a junior from Lombard, Illinois and Glenbard East High School, won the 400-meter run and placed second in the 200-meter run at the Pat Heenan Invitational on Saturday. Both her times in the 200 (25.76) and 400 (58.68) were both lifetime bests, while her time in the 200 was the fourth-best time in program history. Novak also ran on the third place 4x400-meter relay (4:07.00). Novak is currently ranked first in the CCIW in all three events and she is ranked 22nd nationally in both the 200 and 400.
Draves, a senior from Verona, Illinois and Seneca High School, set a new North Central record in the weight throw at the Pat Heenan Invitational. Her first place mark of 17.80 broke her previous program record and it currently ranks first in the CCIW and fifth in Division III. Additionally, Draves took second in the weight throw at Friday's GVSU Big Meet. Her mark of 17.51 was a season best until her performance on Saturday.
