NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Park junior
Esther Miller was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Miller, a native of Sullivan, Illinois and Sullivan High School, competed in her first-ever heptathlon at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa over the weekend. Competing against Division I and Division II athletes, Miller accomplished four personal records. In the 100-meter hurdles, she shaved off a second from her previous best, clocking a time of 16.30. She did nearly the same in the 200-meter dash, running 1.42 seconds faster than her previous best (27.04). In the shot put, she threw nearly a two-meter difference with a mark of 8.86 meters. Miller also ran the 800-meter run and finished with a time of 2:29.66. She totaled 3,829 points and placed seventh overall, moving up five places after the 800. This score is the fifth-best in program history. She currently ranks third in the CCIW and 33rd on the NCAA Division III national list in the heptathlon.
