NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced Ava David of Elmhurst and Lindsey Novak of North Central as Women’s Indoor Track Co-Student-Athletes of the Week and NCC’s Alex Draves as the conference’s Field Student-Athlete of the Week.
David’s 200-meter dash time of 25.98 seconds at the Suffolk Ice Breaker in Boston on Saturday was the fastest time in the league this season. The Colorado Springs native also ran the 400 meters twice over the weekend, including a time of 57.56 seconds on Sunday at the UMass Flagship Invitational that is the eighth-fastest indoor time in Division III in 2022-23.
Novak, a senior from Lombard, Ill., was the winner of the 400 meters at Saturday’s Cardinal Opener in a time of 58.16 seconds. The effort – with a converted time for a banked track to 57.40 – is seventh on the Division III list this winter.
A final mark of 17.37 meters was enough for Draves to win the weight throw Saturday in Naperville. It’s the top performance in the league so far 2022-23 and fourth-best in Division III.
