NAPERVILLE – For the second consecutive week, Elmhurst’s Ava David and North Central’s Lindsey Novak will share the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Track Student-Athlete of the Week, while NCC’s Alex Draves is a repeat Field recipient, according to a vote conducted by league head coaches.
Draves set a new North Central record and landed third on this season’s NCAA Division III list with a mark of 17.92 meters to win the weight throw at last Friday’s Snow Day Invitational in Naperville. She helped the Cardinals win the team title, as all six of her throws cleared 17 meters.
On the track, David swept the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at Illinois Wesleyan’s I-55 Tri at the Shirk Center. She won 60 in 7.72 seconds, the sixth-fastest time in Division III this winter, and her 200 time converted to 25.06 seconds is seventh on the national list. David now has three top-10 performances (400 meters) in Division III during the current indoor season.
Novak was winner of the 200 meters at the Snow Day Invitational, clocking in in a converted time of 24.99 seconds. It’s the fastest time in the CCIW this season, fifth-fastest in Division III and a new North Central record. She also ran a leg of the Cardinals’ first-place 4x400-meter relay team on Friday.
