NAPERVILLE – Carthage teammates Chase Upmann and Alex Jarvis have swept the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week awards, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

Upmann, a senior from Rockford, Ill., earned the conference weekly track recognition thanks to a weekend performance in which he broke a 19-year-old Carthage record in the 800 meters. His time of 1:53.51 was the top performance in the league this winter and good enough for second place at the Aurora Grand Prix. He also split 51.1 seconds on his leg of the Firebirds’ 4x400-meter relay.

Jarvis earned a second-place finish with a leap of 13.80 meters in the triple jump at the Aurora Grand Prix. He is the CCIW’s Field winner this week, as the Kenosha, Wis. native’s effort on Saturday was the top performance by a CCIW student-athlete this season.
