NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) honored three women’s indoor track & field participants as Student-Athletes of the Week, according to a Wednesday announcement. Elmhurst’s Huda Hussaini and North Central’s Lindsey Novak are co-winners in track, while NCC’s Alex Draves won the field award for the third time this season.
Hussaini, a senior from Lombard, Ill., won Elmhurst’s fifth consecutive track Student-Athlete of the Week honor after placing second in the 60 meters at last weekend’s Windy City Rumble hosted by Chicago. Her finals time of 7.82 seconds marked a personal career best for the third meet in a row.
Novak won track honors from the league for the third time this season with a pair of top-four finishes at the Walter Cramer Invite hosted by Olivet Nazarene. The NCC junior was the runner up in the 400 in 57.8 seconds and notched a fourth-place effort in the 200 in 25.55 seconds.
Draves set a North Central record at ONU in the weight throw, earning a mark of 18.00 meters to win the event. It’s the top throw in the CCIW this season and the fourth-best performance in Division III.
