NAPERVILLE – After shooting identical rounds of 69 and 74 to tie for fifth place at the Take Back the Night Challenge in Decatur, Ill., Illinois Wesleyan teammates Juney Bai and Michael Spitzer are co-recipients of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week award, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

Bai and Spitzer both finished the event at 143, the fifth-lowest score among 104 players at the two-day event hosted by Millikin at Red Tail Run Golf Club and South Side Country Club. Their efforts allowed the Titans to place second as a team, two shots off the lead.

Both Bai, a freshman from Mokena, Ill., and Spitzer, a freshman from Hinsdale, Ill., are now two-time CCIW Student-Athletes of the Week in 2023, and Spitzer is a repeat selection. Illinois Wesleyan has won or shared the award honor of the seven times it’s been awarded during the 2022-23 season.
