NAPERVILLE – Nine College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) men’s golf teams will converge on Whitetail Ridge Golf Club in Yorkville, Ill. Thursday morning for the opening round of the CCIW Championship. The three-round, 54-hole tournament hosted by North Central will conclude Saturday evening in Yorkville.
The tournament – the first-ever CCIW Men’s Golf Championship at Whitetail Ridge – will officially tee off at 8 a.m. Thursday. Groups of three will tee off every eight minutes, with the final group scheduled to begin Thursday at 9:52 a.m. Tee times will also begin at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday in Yorkville.
Illinois Wesleyan will be seeking its 11th consecutive CCIW Championship since 2012. The Titans bested runner-up Carthage by 27 strokes last season.
The top returning player from the 2022 CCIW Championship is Carthage’s Alex Lilly, who tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard a year ago with a three-round score of 224. Only Lilly, Illinois Wesleyan’s Bobby Beaubien and Millikin’s Max Phillips were among the top 15 players last year at Brown Deer Park Golf Course in Milwaukee.
According to a pre-championship poll conducted earlier this week, Illinois Wesleyan was the coaches’ pick to win the 2023 event, followed by Carthage and Millikin. Elmhurst and Wheaton tied for fourth position, followed by Augustana, North Park, North Central and Carroll.
