NAPERVILLE – Jake Shumaker, a sophomore middle distance specialist at Millikin, and Steven Hermsen, a graduate student thrower from Carroll, have been voted College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athletes of the Week in men’s track & field.
Shuamker ran the 800 in 1:51.13 for a third place finish at MU’s Big Blue Friday Night Invite in Decatur. His time was an outdoor personal best, fastest in the league and 13th-fastest in Division III this spring.
Hermsen delivered two big wins for the Pioneers at the Drake Alternative Meet hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater last Friday. The native of De Pere, Wis. set a new Carroll record with a throw of 57.43 meters in the hammer throw. He also won the discus at 56.48 meters.
