NAPERVILLE – Lindsey Novak of North Central (track) and Vanessa Uitenbroek of Carroll (field) were announced as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week, Wednesday afternoon.
Novak, a five-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week during the indoor season, won the 200 meters at the Elmhurst Invitational last Friday. Her time of 24.34 seconds was fastest in the CCIW during the outdoor season and broke a 26-year-old NCC record.
The Lombard, Ill. native also ran on the Cardinals’ winning 4x400 meter relay team with a split of 56.4 seconds.
Uitenbroek repeated as the league’s field recipient and won for the third time overall during the outdoor season, winning the shot put and the discus at the Drake Alternative Meet hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater. Her throw of 46.77 meters in the discus was a career best.
