CCIW Announces Men’s Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE – Carthage’s Chase Upmann (track) and Joseph White (field) have been named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week after leading the Firebirds to the title at the Firebird First Invitational last Saturday in Kenosha.

Track: Chase Upmann, Carthage
Upmann was the winner in the 800 meters on Saturday with a time of 1:55.74. The track-size converted mark of 1:54.11 makes the performance tops in the league this winter and eighth-fastest in Division III. The Rockford, Ill. native, who is now a two-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week in his career, also anchored the Firebirds’ 4x400 meter relay team to a victory.

Field: Joseph White, Carthage
The All-American from Kenosha continued his dominance in the indoor throws, sweeping the weight throw and the shot put at the Firebird First Invitational. His performance of 21.70 meters in the weight throw extended his own top mark in Division III this season, while his throw of 17.75 meters in the shot put trails only his previous season best on the national list. He has won all three weekly awards from the league this season.
