NAPERVILLE – North Central won the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday night in Naperville, Ill. The title was NCC’s seventh in a row and 22nd since 2001.
 
More than one-third of the Cardinals’ 165 team points came from three events – the mile, the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters. Braden Nicholson won the mile in 4:11.48 and the 5,000 meters in 14:38.88. 
 
Augustana’s Joe Langridge claimed victory in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:24.31, but NCC runners claimed four of the next five positions to earn 25 points in the event.
 
Marcus Caselberry also secured two event wins for NCC, sprinting to a victory in 60 meters in 6.90 seconds and the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.41 seconds. The Cardinals’ freshman was voted CCIW Track Student-Athlete of the Meet and CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Meet.
 
Carthage placed second on Saturday. Head coach Josh Henry and his staff were voted CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
The Firebirds’ Joseph White swept the shot put (18.45 meters) and the weight throw (21.62 meters) for the third consecutive year. Both of his marks this year were meet records. He was named CCIW Field Student-Athlete of the Meet for the third straight year.
 
The Firebirds also won the distance medley relay on Friday (10:17.16) and Chase Upmann topped the field in the 800 meters (1:51.94).
