NAPERVILLE – North Central distance specialist Max Svienty and Carroll thrower Steven Hermsen have been selected Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) on Wednesday afternoon.
The announcement marks the first weekly outdoor awards from the conference office of the 2024 season.
Track: Max Svienty, North Central
Svienty, now a five-time CCIW Outdoor Track Student-Athlete of the Week in his NCC career, ran the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational last Friday, finishing with a time of 29.06.60. It was a personal career best for the senior from Arlington Heights, Ill. and currently the fastest Division III time in 2024.

Wednesday’s announcement marked Hermsen’s seventh CCIW Outdoor Field Student-Athlete of the Week selection. The graduate student swept the hammer and discus at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran last Thursday in Wauwatosa, Wis. The De Pere, Wis. native threw 54.98 meters in the hammer and 54.55 meters in the discus.
