Augie’s Hermange Repeats as CCIW Men’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Year

NAPERVILLE – Augustana junior Arthur Hermange was voted College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season, making him one of 12 student-athletes to earn All-CCIW honors from the league office on Wednesday morning.

Hermange was a perfect 7-0 from #1 singles against CCIW opponents, improving his career CCIW records in the regular season to 12-1. He is the eighth player to earn CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year in consecutive years and the first since Carthage’s Herman Abban (2017-18).

Augustana’s David Larraga was the lone freshman to earn an All-CCIW selection and was voted CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year. The Monterrey, Mexico native earned two wins at #2 singles for the Vikings and also paired with Hermange to notch a 4-2 record in league action from Augie’s top spot in the doubles lineup.

Carthage head coach Brady Lindsley collected the CCIW Coach of the Year award for the second consecutive season and the 11th time overall since 1998. The 28th-season head coach has directed the Firebirds to 21 wins this season, their 10th time reaching the 20-win plateau. Carthage went 6-1 in CCIW competition and will seek its second consecutive league title when the CCIW Tournament begins play on Thursday.

Francisco Silveira of Carthage and Ramon Vilarroig Martinez of North Central joined Hermange as repeat selections to the All-CCIW First Team. The 2024 All-CCIW Team also included five first-time honorees.

Additionally, eight student-athletes were named a recipient of the CCIW RESPECT award, given to student-athletes that have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust.
