NAPERVILLE – College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week selections in outdoor men’s track & field went to Connor Riss of North Central and Joseph White of Carthage on Wednesday afternoon.
Track: Connor Riss, North Central
Riss ran in the unseeded section of the 5,000 meters at the Drake Relays last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. Riss placed second in the race with a time of 14:15.13, the third-fastest time in the CCIW this spring.
Field: Joseph White, Carthage
Also in Des Moines for the Drake Relays was White, who established a new Carthage record in the discus at 55.17 meters. He also finished third in the shot put among competitors from all NCAA Divisions with a mark of 18.23 meters. On day two, his throw of 60.57 meters in the hammer throw was sixth-best in Division III in 2024.
