ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – North Central made it three consecutive team titles at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Wrestling Championship on Sunday, scoring 137.5 points to claim the 2025 crown at the Carver Center in Rock Island, Ill.
 
The Cardinals boasted champions in eight of the 10 weight classes. North Central head coach Joe Norton was voted CCIW Coach of the Year for the third consecutive year.
 
Aurora was the team runner up with 82.0 points, most by a second-place team in the league’s three-year championship history. Host Augustana placed third with 67.5 points
 
NCC’s individual winners were Leeana Mercado (110), Mikayla Garcia (117), Janessa George (124), Emma Grimm (138), Sydney Perry (145), Lizzie Raleigh (160), Shenita Lawson (180) and Dasia Yearby (207).
 
Aurora earned the other two weight-class winners – Genesis Ramirez (103) and Alexis Janiak (131). Janiak was the only student-athlete among the 10 weight-class winners to have previously won a CCIW title after winning the 130-pound bracket in 2023.
 
Ramirez, who was last season’s CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year, was voted Most Outstanding Student-Athlete on Sunday. Her 3-2 decision over North Central’s Brianne Graves secured her title in the round-robin weight class.
 
The coaches selected NCC’s Mikayla Garcia as CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year. Garcia went 4-0 in the round-robin format at 117 pounds on Sunday.
