Hosea Leads Firebirds at Hiram, Claims CCIW Weekly Award

NAPERVILLE — Josie Hosea, a freshman at Carthage, has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Hiram Terrier Round Robin last Sunday in Hiram, Ohio.
 
Competing at 160 pounds, Hosea claimed first place with a 5-0 record. Her tournament run was highlighted by the first technical fall victory of her career, a 4:20 tech fall over Amelia Collins of Indiana Tech. The St. Louis native added three decision victories, defeating Jyla Johnson of Alfred State (6-1) and Cicely Cullins of Hiram (2-1), along with a default win over Allydia Byard of Hiram at 4:44. She also earned a victory over Emma Hanrahan of Mount Union to complete the unbeaten day.
 
Hosea was one of two individual champions for Carthage at the Terrier Round Robin.
